Pathankot to Dalhousie by road
| Distance | Driving time | Route |
|---|---|---|
| About 80 km | 2.5–3 hours | via Dunera and Banikhet |
The short climb from the railhead: out of Pathankot, across the plains to Dunera, then a winding mountain road through Banikhet to Dalhousie. It is only 80 km, but the hill section is slow and twisty, so we take it steadily. We track your train, so a late arrival is no problem.
From Pathankot station it is the quickest way into the Chamba hills. Dunera has a few roadside dhabas for breakfast before the climb. If your group plans Khajjiar the same day, leave Pathankot by 9 am.
Pickup in Pathankot
We pick up from Pathankot Cantt or Pathankot Junction railway station, Pathankot airport or your hotel.
Arriving in Dalhousie
The town centre is narrow, so we drop you at your hotel or near Gandhi Chowk and wait at the nearest parking. Worth your time in Dalhousie: Khajjiar meadow, about 22 km away, Gandhi Chowk, Kalatop forest and Panchpula. See our Dalhousie page for more.
