Suggested 2-day plan from Dharamshala
Day 1: Drive to Amritsar. Afternoon at Jallianwala Bagh and Partition Museum, then the Golden Temple at night when it is lit up.
Day 2: Early morning at the Golden Temple and langar, the old city and Gobindgarh Fort, then the Beating Retreat at Wagah before driving back, or stay another night.
From Shimla: add Anandpur Sahib
Coming from Shimla, we take the route through Anandpur Sahib, the birthplace of the Khalsa, and Kiratpur Sahib. Naina Devi temple is on a hill about 20 km from Anandpur. It makes a natural first-day stop before Amritsar.
