A short, scenic hop between two old British hill stations. The road runs west along the Kangra valley through Shahpur, then turns into the hills and climbs through pine and deodar forest to Dalhousie. With an early start you can do Dalhousie and Khajjiar as a long day trip, though most families stay a night.
Dalhousie’s Gandhi Chowk is a short walk from most hotels, and the drive to Khajjiar takes under an hour. Many groups combine this route with Amritsar on the way down. It is also a good option when Dharamshala is busy during cricket matches.
Pickup in Dharamshala
We pick up from Gaggal (Kangra) airport, Dharamshala bus stand, McLeodganj or your hotel; pickups in Kangra town add about 30 minutes.
Arriving in Dalhousie
