Shimla to Mussoorie by road
| Distance | Driving time | Route |
|---|---|---|
| About 255 km | 7.5 hours | via Nahan, Paonta Sahib and Dehradun |
A full hill-to-hill day: Sirmaur’s back roads to Nahan, the Yamuna crossing at Paonta Sahib, through Dehradun, and finally the 35 km of hairpins up to Mussoorie. The last climb is where a comfortable seat matters, so we plan a proper lunch break in Dehradun before it. Weekends in Mussoorie are crowded; arriving by late afternoon avoids the worst of the Mall Road traffic.
Mussoorie and Shimla make a good two-hill-station holiday without flying. Kempty Falls is on the way out of Mussoorie, towards Yamunotri, so it fits the next day. If the group is large, ask your Mussoorie hotel about parking in advance.
Pickup in Shimla
We pick up from the ISBT at Tutikandi, Shimla railway station, Jubbarhatti airport or your hotel anywhere in town, Kufri or Mashobra.
Arriving in Mussoorie
Mall Road traffic is restricted, so we drop you at your hotel or the nearest point at Library Chowk or Picture Palace. Worth your time in Mussoorie: Kempty Falls, Gun Hill, Landour and Mall Road.
What a Shimla to Mussoorie trip costs
A 2-day return trip covers about 510 km. Outstation trips are ₹40 per km with a minimum of 300 km a day, so the estimate is 600 km × ₹40 = ₹24,000 plus tolls, driver included.
