Shimla to Ludhiana by road
| Distance | Driving time | Route |
|---|---|---|
| About 215 km | 5.5 hours | via Chandigarh, Kharar and Samrala |
Down the four-lane highway to Chandigarh, then west across the Punjab plains through Kharar and Samrala to Ludhiana. It is a straightforward road, mostly flat after Parwanoo, which suits families heading home after a hill holiday or relatives travelling up for a wedding in Shimla. Expect a slow patch around Zirakpur at peak hours.
This is a common drop for families from Punjab after a Shimla holiday, and for guests going home after a Shimla wedding. We can also stop at Chandigarh on the way for anyone catching a flight. Ludhiana traffic is heavy in the evening, so we aim to arrive by mid-afternoon.
Pickup in Shimla
We pick up from the ISBT at Tutikandi, Shimla railway station, Jubbarhatti airport or your hotel anywhere in town, Kufri or Mashobra.
Arriving in Ludhiana
