Shimla to Agra by road
| Distance | Driving time | Route |
|---|---|---|
| About 545 km | 10–11 hours | via Ambala, the Eastern Peripheral and Yamuna Expressways |
We leave Shimla early, take the plains road past Ambala and Panipat, bypass Delhi on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway and finish on the fast Yamuna Expressway to Agra. Plan the Taj for the next morning at sunrise, when it is cooler and quieter. It pairs well with Mathura and Vrindavan, which are on the same expressway an hour before Agra.
Pickup in Shimla
We pick up from the ISBT at Tutikandi, Shimla railway station, Jubbarhatti airport or your hotel anywhere in town, Kufri or Mashobra.
Arriving in Agra
Drops at your hotel near the Taj or Agra Cantt station. The last stretch to the Taj is by battery bus or on foot. Worth your time in Agra: the Taj Mahal (closed on Fridays), Agra Fort, Mehtab Bagh and Fatehpur Sikri, about 40 km away.
